  • Right-click your post and choose Cancel Post.
  • Note: If you just posted the message, you will have to right click on the appropriate newsgroups and choose send/retrieve to see your message.
  • If you had already deleted (not canceled) the message, you can get it back by right-clicking the folder it was in and choosing Reset. Then right-click the folder and choose Sent/Retrieve. All messages will be retrieved, including yours. You can now select the message and cancel (retract) it.

Automatically Purging Read Messages

Once read, each newsgroup message becomes a saved message in your mailbox, like any incoming message. (Unread newsgroup messages are only links to the actual message). To avoid accumulating these old messages, you will need to either manually or automatically delete them. To automatically remove them after n-days:

  • Right-click your master NewsGroups folder
  • Click Properties
  • Click the Advanced tab
  • Check the Remove messages more than n days old option and enter the number of days desired.
  • Newsgroup Properties

  • Once you delete a posting (automatically or manually), you will not see it anymore. The next time you check IPFW Newsgroups only the most recent messages will download unless you choose Reset from the Right-mouse menu.
  • You can also delete individual messages by right clicking on the message and selecting Delete.

Subscribing to Additional Newsgroups

  • Right click on your NewsGroups link in GroupWise
  • Select Subscribe to Newsgroups...
  • Search for and then select the newsgroups you wish to add and click the Subscribe button (NOTE: clicking on the New tab will show all the new groups and is the quickest way to add a newly created newsgroups)
