Browser Temp Files - PC
To speed the loading of web pages, browsers store cached or temporary copies of web pages and images to your hard drive. In most cases, this is a blessing but in some cases, where the information on web pages changes frequently (webmail, bulletin boards, OASIS, eLearning, etc.,) it is a hindrance. To delete these cached copies, use the directions below.
Firefox 2.x, 3.x
- Open Firefox
- Click the Tools menu option
- Select Clear Private Data…
- If prompted, check each box next to the information that you would like to remove and click Clear Private Data Now.
Internet Explorer 7.x
- Open Internet Explorer
- Click the Tools menu option
- Click Internet Options
- Look in the middle section of this window
- Click the Delete button under Browser History
- The Delete Browsing History window will appear. Click the Delete All button.
- You will be asked to confirm this.
- In the Internet Options window, click OK
- This will close the Internet Options window
Safari 2.x, 3.x (Mac)
- Open Safari.
- Click Safari > Empty Cache.
- Click Empty to confirm.
Safari 2.x, 3.x (PC)
- Open Safari.
- Click Edit > Empty Cache.
- Click Empty to confirm.
