Computing Resources for Research
Data Collection
The Learning Resource Center manages form scanning of several Scantron bubble sheets. The scanning process can be used to create comma delimited text files of coded information.
Online facilities to construct and manage surveys is available via WebSurveyor. Use requires an account which can be obtained by contacting the IT Services Help Desk.
Quantitative Tools
IT Services maintains licenses for a variety of software useful in quantitative analysis. Lists of the currently available software in the student labs/classrooms and offices are distributed through these links. A few of these titles can be purchased in the bookstore [details}. In addition, Indiana University's Stat/Math Center sells to employees annual licenses (i.e., they must be renewed each year) for many other titles.
Computational Environments
Purdue University constructed on our campus a sixteen-node cluster of single CPU, 32-bit Intel PII 450 MHz Linux workstations, referred to as the Purdue Collaborative Cluster (details). The machines are managed by West Lafayette. Accounts can be obtained from Purdue by completing the form.
IPFW has built a similar cluster of 80 nodes. Accounts on this cluster can be obtained by contacting the IT Services Help Desk.
