Procedure for Obtaining Accounts

For Emeritus Faculty and Official Retirees

Upon request, official "IPFW Retirees" and "Emeritus Faculty" will be granted access to an "E-mail Account" and/or a Network Login Account for their use after leaving IPFW. This access is subject to all Purdue (or IU) policies and regulations; as well as, IPFW policies and regulations. Misuse thereof will constitute grounds for revocation of the privilege.

"Official Retiree" status will be verified by Human Resources based on IU or Purdue regulations before the accounts are issued. The description field of the account will carry the designation of "- Official Retiree" or "- Emeritus" whichever is appropriate to the user.

Warning: These accounts are granted for the exclusive use of the "Official IPFW Retiree." It may NOT be used by other family members consistent with both Purdue and IPFW policy.

  • The Retiree Account Request is a simple online submission form. Complete the form on the computer and press the submit button.Allow adequate time before your retirement to submit this Form.

  • The Department of Human Resources will send approval for this account to ITS. (Maximum processing time may be one to two weeks.)

  • Direct questions or make arrangements for saving your network files and archives with Pam Zepp in IT Services, 481-6031. IT Services will work with you before and after the transition.

More Information

  • User name - In order to preserve your existing e-mail address & username. You must apply for your Emeritus/Retiree account BEFORE terminating university employment. Otherwise, the username will be assigned using the current username algorithm.
  • Expiration - The accounts will be issued with an expiration of July 1 of each year and must be renewed by the retiree in order to remain active. You should receive an e-mail from ITS some time during June of each year. To maintain your e-mail account, you only need to reply to the message with the subject line, "keep my account". If you are retiring at the end of Spring semester and have just made the transition to Official Retiree/Emeritus, you will not be contacted until next year.
  • E-Mail & Archives - You will need to set aside time to remove (by printing, copying to disk, or forwarding to another email address) all archived items from your office computer that you wish to keep.
  • System - Your Emeritus/Retiree e-mail account will be provided on the same e-mail system that is available for faculty/staff.
  • Network Rights - The Network Login ID does not automatically grant the holder continued access to network software or Helmke Library databases. Special arrangements will need to be made if the retiree requires use of networked software from a campus office.

Limitations

  • The employee or official retiree is responsible for all purchase, installation, configuration, maintenance, and trouble-shooting of hardware and software on their home computer. University Help Desk and User Technology Support can only provide limited support.

  • Assistance is available in the form of preliminary directions provided for retiree access and configuring GroupWise from home . Questions regarding the installation of the campus GroupWise client at home should be directed to Help Desk at 260-481-6030.

  • The Help Desk cannot answer questions or assist with configuration of e-mail programs for faculty/staff other than Webmail and GroupWise.

  • You must have a functioning Internet connection and a Web Browser. Support will NOT be provided for installation or configuration of home-based modems.
